For budget friendly invitations I used paint chips from Home Depot and attached them with colorful brads from Hobby Lobby.
I had planned on setting up the tables outside on the deck for the painting portion of the party and wouldn’t you know it started raining an hour before the party started! We brought the tables in, dried them off and had to rearrange the dining room. We got it set up with very little time to spare. It was a little crowded but we made it work. I made the pennant banner using paint chips and some kitchen string.
I had planned on hanging these letters up outside but since we had to move the party indoors I didn’t really have a place for them. I decided to just lay them on the table. You can view my tutorial for covering letters here.
The paper medallions I pulled from my party stash so I didn’t have to purchase anything new for the dessert table decor. The larger medallions are Martha Stewart available at AC Moore. You can view the tutorial to make the smaller ones here.
Each little guest had their own canvas panel, art apron and paint brushes waiting for them upon arrival.
The little easels I made using colorful paper straws. Luckily I have quite an extensive collection so I didn’t have to purchase any new straws for this.
We kept the menu simple by ordering pizza and served fruit, veggies and chips along with it.
Pretty much all the little boys paintings were what I would call “abstract pieces” while the little girls drew actual pictures. I feel like there is a child psychology lesson to be taught here.
Since we are tight on space the art table is working double duty as the dinner table also.
Overall I think the party turned out well even though we got “rained in”.

As an art lover, I love this theme!! 🙂 I love how you used the paint chips – what a cute and creative idea!!!! Love it!!!
That is so cute! Love the cake. I am SO tired of the elaborately decorated, over the top cakes for a kids' party…that is just perfect!
Yeah, me too! How did you print onto the paint chips though?
