A couple weekends ago we celebrated Maddy’s 3rd birthday! She chose mermaids as her party theme so I incorporated those along with some other under the sea creatures and of coarse plenty of pink and ruffles. I used decorations from parties past as well as creating some new paper flowers. I found adorable mermaid printables here and printed them out myself.
I found this oyster cookie idea via Pinterest and it was so easy and adorable I just had to make them for the party.
These mermaid cupcake toppers were a free download and they were the exact colors I had in mind. The wrapping paper in the background I stumbled upon at Target and I loved that the pattern looked like little water drops and the colors were perfect so it was just meant to be. Not to mention very inexpensive.
The banner is also a free printable. All letters are available to download so you can make it say anything you want.
This was my second attempt at making a ruffle cake. I need a little practice but I don’t think Maddy noticed my mess-ups so all in all it turned out ok.
For favors the guests took home some yummy mermaid mix made from pink chocolate popcorn, Valentine m&m’s, raisins and vanilla cupcake flavored goldfish. Yum!
Her shirt is made using a piece of pink felt and fusible interfacing. I made it using the same method I used in this post. It was super easy and since I only used things I already had the whole outfit was free. Yay!
This little wooden mermaid I found in my crafting stash. It was left over from Claire’s surfer girl party we had several years ago. I think it’s from Hobby Lobby or AC Moore.
Maddy had a great time at her party with some sweet friends and family and since I haven’t gotten around to taking down all the decorations yet we’re still celebrating! =)
